The Power of Imagining Ten Thousand Dollars

Ten thousand dollars.

Sounds pretty good, huh?

What if I told you that you could imagine up to ten thousand dollars every day, from the comfort and safety of your own living room?

I know what you’re thinking: Ten thousand dollars? Every day? Most people can only dream about dreaming about that kind of money! I mean, who has time to imagine ten thousand dollars every day in this economy?

That’s fair. But let me ask you one thing: Can you afford not to imagine ten thousand dollars in this economy?

How about this—can you imagine two thousand dollars? Can you imagine two thousand dollars five times every day?

Only five times a day. That’s once at breakfast, once at lunch, once at dinner, once at a snack time, and then maybe once during another snack. Five times. Do you know what thinking about two thousand dollars five times a day adds up to?

That’s right, it adds up to thinking about ten thousand dollars.

Let me tell you something about myself—I’m just a regular guy. I wake up, make coffee, and get stony-eyed stares from my dad, just like everyone else. But, these days, I can stand in front of a mirror and imagine ten thousand dollars in my head. And that’s before breakfast.

It wasn’t always like that. Three years ago, I could barely think about ten dollars a day, let alone ten thousand. But then suddenly everything changed. I thought to myself, If I could just take the time to think about ten dollars, ten times a day, well, I could be thinking about a hundred dollars every day!

So I quit my job and moved back in with my parents so that I could imagine ten dollars as often as possible. It wasn’t easy. Some people don’t understand the power of imagination. Some people insisted that I find a new job and move out. But I persevered.

At first, all I could think about was fifteen, maybe twenty dollars. But, little by little, my imagination expanded, a few more dollars each week. Soon, it was fifty dollars a day, then seventy-five. Until, one day, finally, I conjured up one hundred dollars in my head. Just like that.

That night, I treated myself and thought about eating a fancy dinner with shiny silverware and everything.

It wasn’t long before I was dreaming up hundreds of dollars every day. It seemed to get easier and easier. Around the time I was imagining a thousand dollars a day, I knew I’d hit on something big. Heck, if I could imagine a thousand dollars a day, couldn’t anyone? I mean, I’m not so special.

So that’s when I started thinking about writing my book, “The Power of Imagining Ten Thousand Dollars.” I’ll be honest, I hadn’t hit the ten-thousand mark yet, but I was filled with a confidence and vigor I hadn’t felt since I imagined my first quarter, as a kid.

If someone walked into this room right now, what would they think? Well, they might think, Who is this guy sitting in his parents’ kitchen, staring blankly at the wall? What could he possibly have to offer me?

But that hypothetical father figure is only seeing what’s on the outside. He can’t see what’s happening inside. On the inside, I’m standing on the stage of a giant theatre, surrounded by hundreds of people. There’s a big spotlight on me. And what’s that on my ear? A cool headset. What does the headset do? I have no idea. But it doesn’t matter. Not when I can dream up ten thousand dollars whenever I need it.

And now? Now I’m imagining my book on every bookshelf in the world, translated into every language. A best-seller on every continent. There’s no limit to my imagination! If I can think about selling enough books, I’ll be a self-thought millionaire.

Imagine that.

I know I will.
