John Cena returning to WWE SmackDown later this month

John Cena will be making his return to WWE in a matter of weeks.

It was announced tonight on WWE Backstage that Cena will be returning to SmackDown on February 28, the day after WWE’s Super ShowDown event in Saudi Arabia.

This would be the first time he’s appeared on WWE television since the July 22, 2019 edition of SmackDown where he and the Usos participated in a rap battle. His last match in WWE was back on January 19, 2019, when Finn Balor defeated him and Drew McIntyre in a triple threat match.

Cena has reduced his appearances in WWE since 2018, focusing on an acting career. He’s starred in a number of movies, including “Blockers” and “Bumblebee”. He has been cast in the next Fast and Furious movie, “F9”. He is also set for the next Suicide Squad movie set for release in 2021.

The February 28th edition of SmackDown will take place at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.
