Only four votes separated McQuillen from the candidate who finished seventh in the race, Kate Doyle Feingold. Finishing just 1 percentage point behind McQuillen, Doyle Feingold could’ve asked for a recount. Instead, she decided to congratulate the new councilmember-elect.
“I am proud of our independent team and their majority on council!” Doyle Feingold said, in an email to Patch. “I think they will do a great job. I’m always happy to help anyone who wants to run as an independent in our City, I think the more people we have engaged and contributing to our city the better off we will all be. Rachel will be an excellent addition to council and I’m so happy she had the courage and determination to run an awesome campaign with integrity and grace!”
