Charges have been filed against the driver of the motorcycle Hall was on at the time of the crash. Gregory Shaer, 51, of the 25000 block of West Blackstone Place in unincorporated Lake Villa, was not seriously injured in the collision and is accused of driving drunk and causing the crash that killed Hall, police said.
Shaer has been charged with aggravated driving while under the influence/suspended or revoked license, driving under the influence of alcohol and not driving on the right side of the road. Police said in early September that more charges were possible in the case.
Patch.com has reached out to police to check to see if charges have been upgraded, or will be, in the case. We will update with more information as it becomes available.
Shaer is next expected in court on Sept. 26 for a preliminary hearing.
