Couple Arguing In Downtown Concord Leads To Resisting Charges: Watch
CONCORD, NH — A man and a woman, reportedly arguing outside a bank on North Main Street, were arrested after fleeing from police on Sunday night.
Specific information about the case is unavailable at press time, but around 8:15 p.m., an officer near Cumberland Farms reportedly saw a couple arguing at the Bank of New Hampshire at the corner of Court and North Main streets. The officer approached the couple, and they immediately fled the scene.
The officer called for backup and began chasing the suspects, who split up. They also reported the woman dropped a purse when taking off.

The officer described the couple as they ran near the Merrimack County Superior Court and then the VFW Hall. The officer was able to stop the woman and reported “removing a firearm” from her. Dispatch asked for confirmation that there was a gun involved and that the woman was no longer armed, and the officer confirmed that information, according to scanner chatter.
“Use caution with the male,” the officer said.

While the woman was detained, other officers arrived.
One suggested searching around the North End for the man.
Behind the VFW Hall, officers heard people screaming in the area of Chapel Street around 8:30 p.m. A man, later identified as the suspect, appeared from behind a fence and was ordered to put his hands up, which he did. The man turned around, was guided to the ground, and was handcuffed.
The man was screaming about trying to protect the woman and refused to listen to the officer. He was eventually charged with resisting.
The woman lived in the area and was in her late 20s. One officer accused her of assault. She was also charged with resisting.
Officers attempted to get the man and woman into separate police cruisers, but they refused. The woman was seen trying to push away from the cruiser with her legs while the man was screaming at her, telling her not to resist and that he was trying to protect her.

After being put in the cruiser, one of the officers accused him of banging his head against the separator inside the cruiser.
Police determined they should both be taken to the county jail and were, according to scanner chatter.
One officer asked for a background check on the woman to find out if she was a felon. A check was also made on the firearm.
Around 8:45 p.m., an officer told dispatch several officers would be searching the North End for a black purse, which was involved in the case. Dispatch offered to request a K-9.
“May as well,” the officer said.
About 30 minutes later, an officer reported finding something.
At 9:30 p.m., officers met with New Hampshire State Police about the case and they began a search with the K-9. After about 30 minutes, police and the K-9 ended the search.
