Find Out When Lazy Dog Restaurant Will Open In Northbrook
NORTHBROOK, IL — Nearly one year after announcing it will be opening a new restaurant in Northbrook, the Lazy Dog Restaurant chain has officially chosen which month that will be. Lazy Dog Restaurant, which is currently hiring more than 150 employees for the 992 Willow Road location, will open for business next month.
The Northbrook restaurant will be the fourth location in Illinois. It marks the latest of more than 40 Lazy Dog restaurants across eight states: California, Florida, Nevada, Texas, Colorado, Illinois, Georgia and Virginia. The location will be at the former Granite City Food & Brewery, which closed in October 2019.
“The local communities where we have locations (Naperville, Oak Brook and Vernon Hills) have been so welcoming to us and we’re excited to expand further into Chicago,” founder and CEO Chris Simms told Patch last year. “We can’t wait to bring our style of hospitality and delicious food to the Northbrook neighborhood.”

Lazy Dog restaurants are designed to feel like a “Rocky Mountain Wyoming escape,” including a warm interior will be complete with lodge-inspired furnishings such as ledge stone, decorative ceiling design treatments, and artwork reminiscent of the Cowboy State, according to Simms. A large outdoor patio will include a firepit for gatherings with friends and family.

In preparation for the opening, Lazy Dog is now accepting applications for servers, cooks, bartenders, bussers, host/hostesses, and more. All those interested in applying for a position to join the Lazy Dog team are encouraged to visit here, text “LD51” to 52345, or call 217-576-8526 for more information.
Those interested in working at Lazy Dog can also interview at the temporary hiring center at Sheraton Chicago Northbrook Hotel at 1110 Willow Rd in Northbrook. The hiring center will be open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday, for a limited time.
“We have a long-standing tradition of hospitality in my family and have gathered the knowledge and traditions of three generations to create something we hope will be a special place for families and friends,” Simms said. “We serve handcrafted American food and drink with seasonally inspired high-quality ingredients and make every meal by hand each day, including all of our sauces, marinades and dressings.”
Lazy Dog’s menu, which focuses on comfort food, changes throughout the year to highlight seasonal ingredients. Handcrafted cocktails and a wide selection of craft beers are also popular. The restaurant is open for lunch, dinner and brunch on the weekend.
