Grandmother, Grandson Killed In Will County Crash, Community Mourns
NEW LENOX, IL — Friends and family are grieving the loss of a grandmother and her grandson, who were killed in a multi-car crash Sunday in rural Will County.
Barbara Stoll, 67, of Manteno, and Tyler Stoll, 22, of Bourbonnais, were killed in the crash Sunday at Route 45 and Wilmington-Peotone Road at 8:30 a.m., according to the Will County Coroner’s Office. Barbara had been driving her grandson to work at Jewel-Osco in New Lenox at the time of the crash, according to a GoFundMe established for the family.
“These two beautiful souls were taken away from us way too soon, and now we are asking for help if you can,” wrote the GoFundMe organizer.

Tyler Stoll worked at the Nelson Road location of Jewel-Osco, 475 Nelson Rd. He worked to fulfill curbside orders. Coworkers have started an additional, separate GoFundMe in his memory and to support his family. Tyler’s father John is noted as managing the store’s frozen department.
“Jewel-Osco has tragically lost one of their best employees in a car accident,” the GoFundMe organizer wrote. “He was loved by all customers and employees for being an extremely liked person and dedicated worker for the company.”

Support and condolences are flowing in on social media and the GoFundMe.
“I recognize him and his smile,” one person wrote on a New Lenox community Facebook page. “Praying for all who loved Tyler and his grandma.”
“Tyler was a pleasure to work with, he will be missed,” one GoFundMe donor wrote.

Community members, friends, and customers are remembering Tyler for his smiling, friendly, and helpful nature. Co-worker Corey Zamora, who established one of the GoFundMe’s, said Tyler was “a very kind soul.
“He was literally the nicest man you’d ever meet in your life,” Zamora said. “Always happy, always had a smile on his face.”
Tyler was quick to greet customers and coworkers with an outgoing, “How’s it goin’?” Zamora remembered. And he loved Gold Peak Tea, he added.
“Every time he was on a break, he’d always drink one of those,” he said, laughing.
He’d wear a baseball cap backwards, Zamora said, and some on the store’s team have been wearing one in his honor. Several drank a Gold Peak Tea in his memory.
“Oh no this is such horrible news,” one customer wrote. “I use Jewel drive up & go a couple of times a week. He was always so helpful. I will miss seeing him. So sad to hear this.”
Another said, “I saw him every time I walked into Jewel. He was so nice to everyone and had a smile on his face every day.”
Zamora said Tyler’s loss is deeply felt by the team.
“Man, it’s so sad that he’s gone,” he said.
The final cause and manner of death will be determined at a later time pending the outcome of autopsy, police, and toxicological reports. The crash remains under investigation.
As of Wednesday morning, information was not available about funeral services for the grandmother and grandson.
