WWE Smackdown Star Considered ‘Future Major Player’ By Vince McMahon, Former WrestleMania City Wants PPV Return
According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, despite Baron Corbin’s push halting back in 2017, Vince McMahon still remains the highest on the former United States Champion as a future “major player” in WWE.
The report points out, however, that after WrestleMania 33, the idea was to push Corbin hard and give him new entrance music, but that did not happen for reasons unknown.
Corbin most recently competed in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 34, a match that he had won at WrestleMania 32.
As we noted earlier this week, a possible indication that Corbin is in-line for a big push sooner rather than later came when WWE began advertising a major WWE Title match for this year’s Extreme Rules PPV. The PPG Paints arena in Pittsburgh, which will host the event in July, is currently listing AJ Styles defending the WWE Title against Shinsuke Nakamura and Baron Corbin in a Triple Threat match.

The Wrestling Observer is also reporting that Orlando, FL, which hosted WrestleMania back in 2008 and in 2017, is making a play to have the big event return possibly in 2023 or 2025.
The report adds the Orange County tourist development sports incentive committee has requested a $1 million increase in resort taxes in order to help the Visit Orlando tourism agency help bring WrestleMania back to Orlando.
