JOLIET — If you were wondering why so many Joliet police cars were at the Maurie’s Table restaurant on Sunday evening, officers were summoned for a domestic disturbance, resulting in the arrest of 37-year-old Kelly Avenue resident Ryan Flannery.

As of Monday, Flannery remained in the county detention facility on charges of aggravated battery and domestic battery.

Police said they believe that while in a vehicle in the parking lot, two people began searching in and around the vehicle for a lost phone. Flannery was in the backseat and grew upset and began to yell at the woman.

Flannery got out of the vehicle and then pushed the woman to the ground, English said. The victim was still on the ground when the officers arrived.

A Joliet Fire Department ambulance was called for the victim; however, she refused to be taken to the hospital, according to English. As for Flannery, the Joliet police found him inside a liquor store next to the restaurant, and he was placed into custody without incident.
