What Do You Wish Were Different In Your Neighborhood? [Block Talk]

December 20, 2024 0 By JohnValbyNation

Most of us are fairly satisfied with where we live, according to various polls. We’re not under some delusion that we’re living in Utopia, but life is for the most part good.

A 2023 Federal Reserve survey data showed about three-fourths of Americans are happy with their neighborhoods, with satisfaction greatest (83 percent) among people who own their homes.

A Pew Research survey a few years earlier found similar results, with about 80 percent of Americans at least somewhat satisfied with neighborhoods, especially if they feel attached to their communities. Those findings were fairly consistent among rural, suburban and urban communities.

A survey from the American Enterprise Institute, a public policy think tank, also found Americans are generally satisfied with their local communities. Respondents to that survey did waver some in their optimism about the future of their neighborhoods.

Do you generally feel the same? How satisfied are you with where you live? What do you wish was different in your neighborhood? Just fill out the survey below for Block Talk, Patch’s exclusive neighborhood etiquette column. And no worries, we don’t collect email addresses.
