Bank Bandit Nabbed On Pace Bus Moments After PNC Heist: CPD

CHICAGO — An alleged bank bandit was nabbed on a Pace bus moments after robbing a bank in Beverly, Ald. Matt O’Shea (19th) said in an email blast to residents.

Around 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, an individual walked into the PNC Bank at 107th Street and Western Avenue and passed a note to the bank teller demanding cash. Chicago police said the teller cooperated, and the individual took off with an undisclosed amount of cash, and a GPS device.

Police were able to quickly track the individual down, who was cruising northbound on Western in a Pace bus. Minutes later, CPD boarded the bus at the intersection of 99th Street and Western Avenue. The person was taken into custody without incident.

No one was injured. Bank employees positively identified the person.

“The Chicago Police Department is working with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in this matter,” Ald. Matt O’Shea (19th) said in a public safety alert. “I would like to thank the 22nd District for apprehending this individual so quickly.”
