On Aug. 19, Korzen was sworn in as the new chief. He replaced Fire Chief Brian Leahy, who was put on leave the previous November.

In February, Leahy and the Village Board struck a severance deal. That ended his 52-year career with the fire department, the last 39 as its chief.

On its website, the village posts the weekly reports from its department heads. On Friday, the village posted the latest ones from every official, but reran Korzen’s from the previous week.

As of Monday morning, the village’s website still listed Korzen as the fire chief, along with his photo.

Korzen’s career as a firefighter and paramedic goes back to 1998, when he worked as a paid-on-call firefighter with the Hillside Fire Department. He has served several suburban departments, including the Clarendon Hills department from 2004 to 2013.

Before being named chief in Clarendon Hills, he was a battalion chief in Roselle for a year and a half.
