Man Accused Of Shooting 2 Vehicles On Cicero Avenue Ordered Detained
OAK LAWN, IL — A Tinley Park man has been tied to an Oak Lawn shooting last month, in which Oak Lawn police allege that the man shot two vehicles in traffic. Adeeb Bawadi, 23, appeared Thursday before Cook County Associate Judge John Fairman on a felony charge of aggravated discharge of a firearm.
Around 7:30 p.m. Nov. 7, an Oak Lawn police sergeant heard gunfire in the area of 105th Street and Cicero Avenue. Officers converged on the area, where they discovered two people in a Jeep Gladiator in a parking lot with bullet holes in it.
A second vehicle with a car full of teens was also struck by gunfire in the McDonald’s drive-thru. The teens told police that they heard shots being fired. Their vehicle was struck by errant rounds, but no one was injured.

The driver of the Jeep said he recognized the shooter who was driving a Ford F150 tow truck, later identified as Bawadi, the prosecutor said. The two apparently had a dispute over money owed.

According to the Jeep driver, he was driving northbound on Cicero when he noticed a black tow truck following him. The prosecutor said Bawadi fired several shots, striking the Jeep multiple times. The driver suffered minor issues from a graze wound and shattered glass.
Bawadi made a U-turn and fled the scene, heading southbound on Cicero Avenue, the prosecutor said. Data from two cell phones allegedly belonging to the Bawadi were recovered, that showed Bawadi in the area of 105th Street and Cicero Avenue when the shooting occurred, according to the prosecutor.
In addition to the cell phones, the prosecutor said Oak Lawn police collected nine shell casings.
Bawadi was taken into custody Wednesday at Branch Court 35/38 at 727 E. 111th St. in Chicago, where he was appearing on an unrelated CPD felony charge, Oak Lawn police told Patch.
The prosecutor told the judge that Bawadi served a three-year sentence for a 2022 arson conviction in the Illinois Department of Corrections. He was also convicted of aggravated fleeing and eluding in 2020, when he was released for time served and given two years’ probation, which the prosecutor said was terminated unsatisfactorily.
Bawadi also has three pending cases, two in Chicago for possession of cannabis and illicit solicitation related to his towing business, and a pending aggravated fleeing and eluding charge in Will County.
Bawadi’s attorney told the judge that another passenger was in his client’s tow truck, and that the driver changed his story three times about the passenger’s identity, including someone named “Slim Man.”
“I don’t have to prove that my client did these things,” Bawadi’s attorney said, asking for house arrest and electronic monitoring.
The prosecutor petitioned for pre-trial detention, in keeping with the policy changes of the new Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, that jail time be sought pre-trial for charged with gun offenses.
“I find without question you’re a danger to the community,” Judge Fairman said, ordering Bawadi to be detained.
Bawadi is due back in court Dec. 26 at the Bridgeview Courthouse.
