CNC, machine tool machining center, also called numerical control system, is the control part of the machine tool of the machining center. According to the input part drawing information, process and process parameters, it generates a CNC machining program in the way of human-computer interaction. Then through the servo drive system, the machine tool components are driven to make corresponding movements.

On traditional CNC machine tools, the processing information of the parts is stored on the NC paper tape, and the information on the NC paper tape is read by the photoelectric reader to realize the processing control of the machine tool. Later, it developed into computer numerical control, and its functions have been greatly improved. It can read all the information of one processing into the computer memory at one time, thereby avoiding frequent starting of the reader. More advanced CNC machine tools can even remove the photoelectric reader and directly program on the computer, or directly receive information from CAPP to achieve automatic programming. The latter CNC machine tool is the basic equipment of computer integrated manufacturing system.

Modern CNC systems often have the following functions: (1) multi-axis coordinated control; (2) tool position compensation; (3) system fault diagnosis; (4) online programming; (5) machining and programming concurrent operations; (6) machining Simulation; (7) tool management and monitoring; (8) online inspection.
The use of CNC machine tools is becoming more and more widely used in aerospace, automotive, food industry, tooling, electrical appliances, furniture and other industries. Common CNC machine tools are CNC lathes, CNC milling machines, CNC drilling machines, CNC machining centers, CNC forming EDM, CNC wire cutting, CNC water jet cutting, CNC laser cutting, CNC punching machines, furniture CNC machine tools, etc.

The most commonly used NC processing technology consists of NC programming, preparation and adjustment of jigs, and NC operation. NC program can be generated by G code and CAD / CAM software. Common CAD / CAM software includes MASTERCAM, PRO / E, UG / II, CATIA, IDEAS, CIMATRON, EDGECAM, etc. If you want to master NC machining technology, you must have the knowledge and skills of machine tools, machining processes, machining tools, fixtures, measuring tools, G code, CAD / CAM software and so on.
