4 Injured In Separate Crashes In Brookhaven Town Over Weekend: Police

BROOKHAVEN TOWN, NY — At least four people, including a pedestrian and two motorcyclists, were injured in separate crashes over the weekend in Brookhaven Town, Suffolk police said.

A Mastic man was driving a 2009 Honda sedan eastbound on Montauk Highway in Brookhaven at around 1:33 p.m. on Saturday, when he struck a pedestrian walking eastbound, according to police.

The pedestrian was taken to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

In an earlier crash on Saturday, a 2008 Chevrolet Suburban was traveling north on Coates Avenue in Holbrook at around 8 a.m., when it traveled through the intersection of Union Avenue at the same time a 2013 Honda was traveling east on Union through the intersection, according to police.

The two vehicles crashed and the Suburban overturned, police said, adding that the driver of the Honda was taken to an area hospital for minor injuries.

There were two crashes involving motorcycles between Saturday and Sunday.

A man was riding a 2001 Harley Davidson motorcycle on Peninsula Drive, near Sands Lane, in Port Jefferson when he fell off the motorcycle at 3:34 p.m. on Saturday, police said, adding that he was taken by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

A second motorcyclist was hurt in Lake Ronkonkoma on Sunday, police said.

A motorcycle and a Honda crashed outside of Stop and Shop at around 4:17 p.m., resulting in minor injuries for the motorcyclist, according to police.

A Ronkonkoma man was driving a 2021 Honda Tucson on Holbrook Road in Holbrook when he struck a parked, unoccupied vehicle at 3:47 a.m. on Sunday, and was later charged with driving while intoxicated.

He was not injured in the crash, police said, adding that the fire department was called to the scene because the vehicle was smoking.

A man was trying to park a 2022 Toyota in a driveway and accidentally struck a neighboring fence on Dahlia Drive in East Patchogue just before 5 p.m. on Sunday, police said. No one was injured.
