Suspect In Attempted Carjacking Eludes Police In Hours-Long Search: PD
TINLEY PARK, IL — A suspect in an attempted carjacking eluded authorities for hours before police eventually called off the search late Wednesday.
An attempted carjacking took place in the 18700 block of Ridgeland Avenue around 4 p.m. Wednesday, Village Manager Pat Carr said. A man armed with a gun and knife, and wearing a black surgical mask, attempted to steal a vehicle. The victim fought back, and the suspect fled into the woods across from the property, Carr said.
Tinley Park Police responded, along with Illinois State Police, Chicago Police, Cook County Sheriff’s Department, South Suburban Emergency Response, Cook County Forest Preserve Police and Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm Systems.

The suspect was not found, and the search was called off at 11 p.m., Carr said. The investigation is still active and ongoing.
