Town Hall Planned For Hatboro Trash Collection Fees
HATBORO, PA —Borough Council members talked trash Monday night. And they will again later this month.
After all, trash collection is a big deal in the borough. Hatboro is one of a handful of communities that handles its garbage collection —and it does it twice a week.
But with the borough receiving calls regarding recent fee increases, officials announced at Monday night’s council meeting that a town hall will be set up to address the concerns of residents and business owners.

Council President George Bollendorf said at Monday night’s meeting that he, Councilman Alex Myers, and Councilwoman Nicole Shay will participate in a town hall meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, at the Pennypack Community Center, 130 Spring Ave.
The borough follows a code of ordinances which were established years ago. While times have changed, the solid waste ordinance has not.

Over the past few years, the council and staff have reviewed, changed, and updated the borough’s ordinances and said the solid waste ordinance is next on its list.
The ordinance states that all non-owner-occupied residential properties and commercial properties must pay a fee for refuse removal.
Borough Staff gathered data and gave a presentation last year to help educate residents and businesses on the actual costs of trash and recycling collection.

Council members will discuss the ordinance, and review suggestions from business owners and non-owner-occupied property owners.
Officials said ordinance changes would need to be made this year to be included in the 2025 municipal budget.
The meeting is not intended for owner-occupied residents as the changes and the fees charged currently do not impact that property classification.
Anyone who cannot attend the town hall can send concerns or questions in advance of the meeting to Borough Manager Diane Hegele at [email protected].
