Beloved Seafood Market In Enfield Changing Slightly For Better Service

ENFIELD, CT — When Cold Harbor Seafood & Market opens for the day Wednesday, there will be a slight change in the way it does business – a change the owners say will improve efficiency and be easier on their customers.

In their own words, they “are saying goodbye to the grill!”

In a social media post over the holiday weekend, owners Joe and LuAnn Lanzieri wrote, “Everyone can see that our little store is very busy, and the parking can be very difficult during the lunch time hours. So we are making delicious, fun and NECESSARY changes to keep our little store more accessible and customer friendly.”

They said they “can see the overall experience at the market is frustrating and confusing for many customers. We made changes to our menu to try and make things easier for our staff and also to be able to serve you faster. But no matter what we try, we just can’t find the correct solution.”

Noted for bringing in fresh fish daily, the biggest change to Cold Harbor’s business model is custom orders will no longer be accepted. “What we have to offer that day will already be prepared and ready for you to grab and go in our fridge and our new heated display. Hot buttered lobster rolls will only be available deconstructed for the time being. You can bring them home and make them yourselves. (The price will be cheaper too!) The original fish taco ingredients will be available for purchase for you to make it home anytime, so just stop in for these as well.”

The Lanzieris squashed rumors that they were moving the store from Taylor Road, which has been drawing customers from throughout the region since opening in 2012. They emphasized they are a fresh fish market, not a restaurant.

“Over the last few seasons, the perception of Cold Harbor is that we are a restaurant, not a fish market – but in fact we are a fish market,” they wrote. “We just happened to offer delicious prepared foods to grab and go as well. The grill was only supposed to be a small add-on, but it turned into something much larger than our staff, small parking and kitchen size can handle. Although we appreciate how much you all supported us, this change is necessary to keep us all healthy, happy and able to keep moving forward.”

Cold Harbor is open Wednesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. More information about the market may be found here.
