Cary Man Accused Of Attacking Woman At Conservation Area

CARY, IL — A 25-year-old Cary man is accused of attacking and injuring a woman while at a conservation area over the weekend.

Trinidad J. Fernandez, 25, of the 0 to 100 block of Park Avenue in Cary, has been charged with two counts of aggravated battery, two counts of domestic battery and resisting an officer in connection with the weekend incident reported at Hickory Grove Highlands Conservation Area in Cary.

He is accused of hitting a woman, who was a family or household member, in the face and injuring her lips and nose while at the conservation area, which is located in the 700 block of Hickory Nut Grove Lane in Cary, according to a criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Court. The attack occurred at about 12 p.m. on Saturday.

When authorities attempted to take Fernandez into custody he pulled away several times, became dead weight by lying on the ground and thrashed and kicked, according to court documents.

Fernandez appeared for an initial court hearing on Monday and has been denied pre-trial release. He remains in custody at the McHenry County Jail, according to court records.
