Venice Murder Suspect Turns Himself In To LAPD
VENICE, CA — A man turned himself in to the Los Angeles Police Department in connection with the shooting death of another man in Venice this week, authorities announced Thursday.
A shooting on March 26 at the 400 block of Indiana Avenue left a man in his 50s dead while the suspect fled the scene before officers arrived, authorities said. According to LAPD, 57-year-old L.A. resident Donald Ray Boyce turned himself in at the Pacific Community Police Station just two days later on March 28.
Officers received the call about the shooting around 6 p.m. on Sunday where they found other people trying to provide aid to the victim. Paramedics took the man to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after, according to LAPD.

According to further investigation by homicide detectives, the shooting escalated from a dispute between family members. Neither Boyce nor the victim lived at the location according to officers.

Murder charges were filed against Boyce on March 30 at the L.A. County District Attorney’s Office. Boyce’s bail was set at $2 million.
