Meera was posted as a physical education teacher at Government Secondary School, Nagla where she met Kalpana, who was then a student.

Sex-change for love
The duo fell in love and wanted to get married, but their parents opposed the relationship.
So in 2019, Meera decided to undergo a sex-reassignment surgery.
“I always wished to undergo surgery to change my gender. I had my first surgery in December 2019,” Meera, who now goes by the name Aarav, told ANI.
Would have married even without sex change
The couple got married recently, reportedly with the blessings of the two families.
“I loved him from the beginning. Even if he had not done this surgery, I would have married him. I went along with him for the surgery,” Kalpana told ANI.
CISF jawan undergoes sexchange to marry colleague
In 2013, a similar incident was reported when a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel who joined the force as a female underwent a sex-reassignment surgery to become a male and marry a colleague.
Though sex-reassignment surgery was completed in 2012 and the personnel got married in 2013, only four years later, in 2017, he was ‘officially’ recognised as a male by the CISF.
Trans couple who met during sex-reassignment surgery
In 2017 a couple, both of them who had undergone sex-reassignment surgeries, got married in Kerala.
Aarav Appukuttan, born Bindu, fell in love with Sukanyeah Krishnan (born Chandu) at a hospital in Mumbai during their gender reassignment surgeries.
Both hailed from Kerala and were waiting at the hospital for consultation when they realised they spoke the same language.
The duo soon became friends and supported each other through their transition period, which brought them even closer, and they decided to spend the rest of their lives together.
Similarly, on February 14, 2022 another trans couple from Kerala, Manu Karthika and Syama S Prabha, tied the knot.
Manu is a transman from Thrissur and Syama is a trans woman from Thiruvananthapuram.
The duo met through the transgender community in 2017 before their gender reassignment surgeries.
They then waited for the families to come together and get secured jobs before they finally decided to get married.
