19-Year-Old Model Gangraped On Moving Vehicle In Kerala, Rajasthani Woman Among Four Arrested

The Kerala Police arrested a woman from Rajasthan and her three male accomplices on Friday for the alleged gangrape of a model on a moving car the previous night.

The complainant, a 19-year-old model hailing from Kasaragod, had alleged that on Thursday night, she went to a bar near Cochin Shipyard for a DJ party in Kochi with the Rajasthani woman, she identified as Dimple Lamba, aka Dolly.

Drink spiked by the accused 

At the bar, the victim said, she suspected that her beer was spiked. After she became intoxicated, the woman made her get into the vehicle of the three accused, identified as Nithin, Sudeep and Vivek.

The vehicle drove across the city for nearly 45 minutes while the three men took turns and sexually abused the victim.

She also alleged that after the sexual assault, the accused went back to the bar, to pick up Lamba.

The accused fled the scene after dropping the woman at her lodging in Kakkanad.

Police alerted by hospital

The matter came to light after it was reported to the police by a private hospital, where the victim was admitted by her roommate on Friday early morning. 

Based on the woman’s complaint, the four accused were taken into custody on Friday.

The vehicle used by the accused has also been taken into custody.

In her statement, the woman said she initially refused to lodge a complaint out of fear.

The accused have been booked under provisions including sections for criminal conspiracy, rape, and kidnapping among others.

The accused took the model in their vehicle after she got drunk at a bar and gangraped her on Thursday night, police said.

Woman was known to the victim

“Medical evidence suggests that she was injured. After committing the crime, the men dropped the victim at Kakkanad,” a senior police official said.

The victim is currently undergoing treatment at Kalamassery Medical College.

Police said the Rajasthani woman was known to the victim and added that they were investigating the background of the four accused and will produce them before the court soon.

Trafficking suspected 

Police Commissioner CH Nagaraju said there was an element of trafficking also involved in the incident.

“There is an element of trafficking in this. Section 370 involving anti-human trafficking has also been added in the FIR as a person has been moved from one place to another for this purpose,” police said.
