Can you imagine driving around 3,000 kilometres, crossing borders with five kids in tow to watch your favourite game? There’s no one crazier than a football fan, and the game’s fever on them is just unbelievable. And this woman proves the theory right.
Najira Noushad from Kannur in Kerala drove her SUV for more than 2,973 kilometres, all the way to Qatar, to watch the FIFA World Cup.

From Mumbai to Coimbatore to Oman and Qatar
The 33-year-old homemaker took her Mahindra Thar on the road as she didn’t want to fly like others. She drove to Mumbai via Coimbatore, from where she reached Oman by ship. She then passed through countries including the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. Najira is accompanied by her five children.

Spreading the message of “safety of women”
With this trip,
Najira is trying to spread the message of “safety for women to travel anywhere around the world”. She also wishes to motivate other women to travel anywhere without hesitation.
Najira claims to be the first woman from Kerala to travel across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations to watch the football world cup. Breaking all the barriers of a stereotype homemaker, Najira urges others to come out of the shells carved around a woman by society that “still wishes to see her inside the four walls of a house”.

Her 45-day journey documented
The best part, she has been documenting her 45-day journey on Instagram, where she has gradually gained popularity.
As she is an ardent fan of Lionel Messi, who is most probably participating in his final World Cup campaign, her arduous journey has turned out to be even more special. This year’s tournament is also believed to be Cristiano Ronaldo’s last haul in Portugal’s jersey.

In February, Najira made the headlines for her solo trip from Kuttanad to Nepal’s high-altitude Everest Base camp. She embarked on this 50-day solo hitchhike trip highlighting the message “India is the safest country for any woman solo traveller.”
Najira, who moved from Oman to Mahe with her husband and five-year-old child last year, decided to use her time in India by exploring the country. She chose to drive and travel alone without bothering anyone around her.
