World’s ‘Worst’ McDonald’s Shuts Down After Viral Fights And Over 900 Calls To The Nearest Police Station
An infamous McDonald’s restaurant has finally shut down after amassing hundreds of police call-outs and viral brawls over the years. The outlet has been dubbed as the world’s ‘worst’ McDonald’s.
The outlet, in Ottawa in Canada, was the setting of a viral video in 2013 which saw a raccoon brandished during a mass brawl. The fight saw dozens of customers exchange blows.

Hundreds of calls to the cops
The branch, which opened in 1985, has been visited by cops ‘hundreds’ of times in the 40 years of its existence, according to local reports.
Part of the restaurant’s chaotic energy is due to its location in the heart of the tourist district where many bars and restaurants are located. People will often flock to the late-night fast-food chain for a bite after drinking.
Outlet ‘complete trash’
Jack Graham told CBC News: ‘I was here about a week and a half ago. And I just felt I was slipping, so I looked [at my shoe] and there’s a needle.’
Another Ottowa resident said the restaurant had descended into ‘complete trash’ over the years.
I lived in Ottawa for one year in 2015 and was absolutely fascinated at the pure chaos that this McDonald’s radiated on any given day. RIP Rideau Street McDonalds. https://t.co/9rPZjSt542

The owners say the decision was down to lease issues and not the weekly punch-ups damaging its reputation. They will officially close their doors in April 2023.
Police chief had to write a letter President and CEO of McDonald’s, Canada
In 2022, police were called to the fast-food chain location over 150 times. And that number is down from 800 in 2018, according to CTV News.
Things got so bad that Police Chief Charles Bordeleau had to raise concerns about the outlet in a letter to the President and CEO of McDonald’s Canada.
As a result of all the fights, the outlet’s opening hours were reduced from 24 hours to 6 am to 10 pm. But now, it is closing down for good.
