Buddy Murphy Pulled From Upcoming Title Match After ‘Failing to Make Weight’, Replacement Match Announced
Buddy Murphy has been pulled from the upcoming Greatest Royal Rumble special, where he was scheduled to face Cedric Alexander for the Cruiserweight Championship. 205 Live General Manager Drake Maverick made an announcement on this Tuesday’s show that Murphy had failed to make weight, coming in just a few pounds over the 205-pound weight limit.

It’s always been assumed the cruiserweight division’s upper weight limit wasn’t legitimately enforced, and this is actually the first time WWE has ever had to “enforce” the policy on television. We’ve reached out to several sources to see if we can find out the real reason why the upcoming title bout had to be changed. Maverick noted in his announcement that Murphy would have to “re-qualify” at a later date if he wanted to remain on the brand.
Instead, a gauntlet match will take place on next week’s episode of 205 Live with the winner going on to face Cedrick Alexander for the Cruiserweight Championship at the Greatest Royal Rumble special.
