Grandmaster Sexay Pleads Guilty, WWE Exec Compares WWE To TNA & More
— In an interview with Indiantelevision.com, WWE President, International Andrew Whitaker spoke about the company’s growth plans in global markets. One of the more noteworthy items from the interview came when Whitaker was asked whether WWE views TNA Wrestling as competition. “All forms of entertainment are competition for WWE as we compete for the public’s attention and entertainment dollar. For any sports or entertainment company, whether you are Manchester United, U2 or WWE, the biggest concern is the enormous proliferation of content in the market. However, WWE is a significant force within entertainment and pop culture. Within our specific entertainment genre, we clearly are the industry leader. While TNA is pro-wrestling, WWE is entertainment.”
— Last night at The Bash, The Miz finally went face to face with John Cena and was squashed by the former WWE champion. Miz wrote the following on his Twitter page after the decisive loss: “Most would want me to say something about the bash. Well…..I’m still awesome.”
— As Daniel reported over the weekend, WWE Hall of Famer “Superstar” Billy Graham was hospitalized on Saturday after experiencing numbness in his legs as a result of back problems. According Dr. Mike Lano of the “Wrestling Reality” blog, Graham is back home and is reportedly doing much better.
— Former WWE tag champion Brian Lawler (son of Jerry “The King Lawler) was arrested in Tennessee early Saturday morning for public intoxication. Lawler, who wrestled as “Grandmaster Sexay” as part of the popular Attitude-era tag team “Too Cool,” appeared in court this morning and was sentenced to a $50 fine and 30 days of rehabilitation.
