British ministers fear further rift with US over Iran deal after Donald Trump appoints hardline advisers 

UK government ministers fear increasing divergence between Britain and the US over the Iran deal after the appointment of two hardline advisers, The Daily Telegraph has learned. 

Senior government figures have privately expressed concerns over “uncompromising” John Bolton and “tub-thumping” Mike Pompeo, Mr Trump’s new national security adviser and secretary of state. 

They expressed fear the US president’s “worst instincts” will be indulged by the men, described as being stuck in a “neoconservative timewarp”. Both replace figures known to have pushed back on some of Mr Trump’s campaign policy positions.
