NXT Indianapolis, IN, live results: Star-laden 8-man tag main event

– No Way Jose defeated Hugo Knox

Knox took a lot of the match until No Way Jose made his comeback and won with the wind-up punch followed by his slam.

– Andrade “Cien” Almas defeated Wesley Blake

Blake was working out a new gimmick as a solo. The crowd constantly razzed him for not having Alexa Bliss or Buddy Murphy with him. Pretty unremarkable match, Almas came back and won with the double knees into the corner and some kind of new implant leg sweep/DDT combo.

Almas did a lot more lucha stuff early than I’ve seen on NXT TV.

– Bayley defeated Alexa Bliss

A lot of comedy early and then it got good with near falls. Bayley won with the Belly to Bayley. She did it twice, because on the first one she didn’t really get Bliss off the ground.

– Hideo Itami defeated Angelo Dawkins

Itami won with a kick. The crowd was chanting “D-Lo Brown” at Dawkins due to their vague resemblance. At one point, he did do the D-Lo Brown head shake to pretty big cheers. Dawkins was entertaining and Itami looked good, but didn’t do much in the match.

– American Alpha defeated NXT Tag Team Champions The Revival by DQ

Shorter match than the last time they were in Indy, but still good wrestling and pretty entertaining comedy in the beginning. American Alpha hit their finisher for the pin on Wilder, but Dawson pulled the ref out of the ring for the DQ. The Revival retained their titles.

– NXT Women’s Champion Asuka defeated Billie Kay to retain her title.

Billie Kay was in control most of the match and her offense did not look very believable. Asuka eventually came back and got her in the Asuka Lock for the win.

– Finn Balor, Shinsuke Nakamura, & American Alpha defeated NXT Champion Samoa Joe, Bobby Roode, & NXT Tag Team Champions The Revival

The match was originally scheduled to be Balor & Nakamura vs. Joe & Roode, but American Alpha and the Revival got involved. Lots of great stuff in this match, concluding with Nakamura hitting the Kinshasa on Roode for the win. 

This was a really enjoyable show. They announced that it was a sellout, but it seemed like less people in standing room than the last time. Maybe somewhere in the 800-1,000 range.
