Sainz’s big bore blast to McLaren’s glorious past

Carlos Sainz found himself in unfamiliar territory yesterday when he sampled a car from McLaren’s glorious past.

The Spaniard was offered an opportunity to rush up the hill at Goodwood in a 1970 McLaren M8D Can-Am beast, and Sainz undoubtedly savoured the moment.

Powered by an 8-litre Chevy aluminum engine, the legendary M8D’s 700 bhp vocalized its deep groan as Sainz opened it up.
