Prince Charles Needs to Spend More Time with His Grandkids

Don’t expect Prince Charles to win “grandfather of the year” anytime soon.

Granted, as first in line to the monarchy, he’s got a lot on his plate, but that doesn’t mean his sons Prince William and Prince Harry are content with the amount of time they see Charles. In fact, in the documentary Prince, Son & Heir: Charles at 70, William admits that he wishes his kids saw much more of their grandpa.

“It’s something I’m working on heavily. I think he does have time for it, but I would like him to have more time with the children,” he said, according to E!. “Having more time with him at home would be lovely — and being able to, you know, play around with the grandchildren. When he is there, he’s brilliant, but we need him there as much as possible.”

With Harry and Meghan Markle expecting another baby in the spring, Charles will have four grandkids total. Ahead of Baby Sussex’s impending arrival, Harry admitted that he wants Charles to find a more evenly distributed work-life balance. (Charles, as you’ll recall, currently books more “jobs” than any other royal.)

“He does need to slow down. This is a man who has dinner ridiculously late at night, and then goes to his desk later that night and will fall asleep on his notes — to the point where he’ll wake up with a piece of paper stuck to his face! The man never stops,” Harry said. “When we were kids, there were bags and bags and bags of work that the office just sent to him. We could barely even get to his desk to say ‘goodnight’ to him.”

Harry has high hopes that Charles will gain “energy” by seeing “his children and grandchildren — and hopefully more grandchildren to come.”

Sounds like Charles needs to spend a little more time at home.
