MOUNT SINAI, NY — Investigators are looking into a report of shots fired in a neighborhood near the Mount Sinai School District’s campus, a police spokeswoman said.

Sixth Precinct officers responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Hilltop Drive and East Gate Drive at around 10:40 a.m., but there was no evidence, according to police.
The investigation is continuing, police said.

The school district’s campus contains a high school, middle school, and elementary school. The area where the shots were reported is in between the middle and elementary schools.
District officials could not be immediately reached for comment.
