2 LI UNIQLO Stores Give Free Outfits To Long Island Cares Clients
HUNTINGTON, NY — Two Long Island UNIQLO stores provided free outfits to 16 Long Island Cares clients, Long Island Cares announced.
UNIQLO in South Huntington and Valley Stream each provided eight free outfits. Outfits were chosen by the clients. Each store invited the guests to shop before opening time. A store associate helped each guest select one top, one bottom and one jacket or accessory.
Dali Boczek, director of satellite services at Long Island Cares, called the event a “tremendous success.”

“It was heartwarming to see our clients experiencing joy and excitement while selecting clothing that they might not have had the opportunity to buy otherwise,” Boczek told Patch. “The collaboration with UNIQLO created a positive atmosphere and a sense of community spirit.”
Long Island Cares’s clients were “overjoyed and deeply appreciative of the opportunity,” Boczek said.

“Many expressed disbelief at being chosen and were grateful for the chance to select clothing they needed,” she said. “The smiles and excitement on their faces as they tried on their selections were uplifting.”
The UNIQLO team shared information with attendees about its LifeWear lineup and its commitment to giving back to local communities, said Nelly Born, associate manager of sustainability at UNIQLO. Some guests shopped for everyday outfits for running errands, exercising or job interviews, while others were attracted to the store’s sweat, rayon, denim, and crepe collections.
One client said she always wanted to own a blazer she could wear to church. Another thanked God for the experience with UNIQLO and said he will be visiting them again.
The two shops were part of the brand’s nationwide “All Store Community Shopping Event,” where all UNIQLO stores invited a local community organization for a private shopping experience. This year’s theme was Back to School.
“Being chosen by UNIQLO is recognition of the work we do and the needs of our community,” Boczek said. “It also relates to our belief, ‘Because it takes more than food to feed the hungry.’ This partnership highlights the importance of community collaboration and the positive impact it can have on the lives of those we serve.”
Long Island Cares selected clients at random from those who used its satellite pantries between May 1 and July 12 and lived in the area the respective mall was in, Boczek explained. Once each list was compiled for both locations, clients were assigned a number and picked by a random number generator.
“I am grateful to UNIQLO for their generosity and for recognizing the importance of supporting the community,” Boczek said. “This event provided our clients with an experience that elevated their self-esteem.”
UNIQLO has 58 open stores in the United States. The event impacted around 460 individuals and totaled a clothing donation value of just over $50K.
