BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA —Brandon Mattingly knows a lot about golf club slices.

The resident recently appeared before Bensalem Township Council to complain about an ongoing issue with golf balls from the Bensalem Country Club landing in his yard.

He expressed his frustration with the country club’s response, stating that they keep giving him different answers and that it’s the golfer’s responsibility.

Mattingly shared an incident at the June 24 council meeting that occurred the previous day, where a golfer hit his wife’s car with a ball, and despite reporting it to the police and the country club, no action was taken.

He mentioned that he had recently purchased a house across the street from the golf course and that the problem had escalated.

Mattingly emphasized that someone could get hurt and that the township and the country club seemed unresponsive to his concerns.

He also mentioned that he had reported the issue to various authorities, including Mayor Joseph DiGirolamo’s office, but had not received a satisfactory resolution.

Mattingly stated that the country club was planning to move the hole, which he believed was their next step to address the issue.

The expensive solution to move the golf hole and related structures was discussed, but the resident was unsure about the timeframe and cost.

They also suggested planting trees as a potential alternative.

The resident emphasized their desire for a resolution and appreciated the opportunity to speak at the council meeting.

Additionally, another resident confirmed their own experiences with golf balls hitting their property, adding to the urgency of the issue.

The council members acknowledged the concerns and promised to look into the matter, with one member suggesting that the golf course be notified of its responsibility to follow up on incidents involving golf balls.
