Norwalk Appoints Interim Tax Assessor As City Seeks To Fill Position
NORWALK, CT — Norwalk officials are seeking applicants to fill the city’s tax assessor position following the departure of Bill Ford earlier this month.
In an email Friday, city spokesperson Michelle Woods Matthews confirmed to Patch the position was open following Ford’s last day in the office on March 8.
Ford started with the city in January 2020. A reason for his departure was not provided.

Paul Gorman, Norwalk’s assistant assessor, is serving as interim assessor as the city actively searches for Ford’s replacement, Woods Matthews said.
She also noted the city has posted the opening on governmentjobs.com and is actively seeking applications.

According to the job description, the assessor “plans, organizes and administers the activities and the statutory responsibilities of the assessor’s office.”
Th position is appointed by Mayor Harry Rilling and receives general direction from the city’s chief financial officer, Henry Dachowitz, according to the description.
