With ten goals to his name in 14 league games this season and his team still well-placed to fight for European football, Terem Moffi and Lorient’s emerging group of young talent has taken Ligue 1 by storm.

Even PSG had to dig deep to find three points at the Stade du Moustoir earlier this season after Moffi’s powerful second-half equaliser before the 23-year-old almost added a second, hitting the crossbar.

Moffi is one of the most promising strikers seen in Ligue 1 for some time but his talent and physical ability may have still been underestimated. The Nigerian is a 6’2, 82kg, left-footed striker who plays in tight spaces like a futsal player but remains a danger in the air, a potentially lethal combination. However, Moffi not only scores goals, he is excellent in build-up play and interchanging with his teammates.

Moffi’s fluctuating goal output, however, has been questioned as has his ability with his weaker foot but Moffi’s right-footed finish against Brest earlier this year was a thing of beauty and, after a dry spell last season, Moffi seems to be entering his prime. The Nigerian has been scoring high-quality goals against the best teams in Ligue 1 on a regular basis all season.

Moffi’s talent is no longer a secret and, despite their challenge for European football, he’s unlikely to hang around at Lorient for much longer.
