Are Ireland more likely to win the Rugby World Cup in 2015 or host it in 2023?
WITH NEWS BREAKING earlier today that the IRFU are set to launch a bid to host the 2023 Rugby World Cup, talk in TheScore.ie Towers inevitably turned to the likelihood of that bid succeeding.
Guesses ranged from “we have to be favourites” to “no chance”with one writer – we won’t name names – going as far as saying “there’s more chance of Ireland winning the World Cup next year than hosting it in 2023″.

Well, we asked the experts and the answer is that – despite being ranked third in the world and beating South Africa and Australia in the November Internationals – Ireland are only 10/1 fifth favourites behind that pair (5/1 and 8/1 respectively), England (4/1) and New Zealand (6/4) to win next year’s competition.
However, the news is better for our World Cup 2023 bid with Paddy Power offering odds as low as 2/1 for the IRFU to be successful with their All-Ireland bid:
