Injured Star Returns at NXT Takeover After Main Event, Videos of Incredible Gargano vs Andrade Almas Title Match

If you didn’t catch Saturday night’s tremendous NXT Takeover: Philadelphia event live on the WWE Network – first of all, what are you even doing? Go log in right now and watch the whole show from beginning to end, culminating with a main event between Johnny Gargano and Andrade Cien Almas that may have been one of the single best WWE matches of the past decade.

Following the bout, injured NXT Superstar Tommaso Ciampa made his return to assault his former best friend Gargano, literally breaking a crutch across his already injured back.

Ciampa and Gargano were once tag team partners and even competed against each other in a friendly first round bout in the 2016 WWE Cruiserweight Classic. The former turned on “Johnny Wrestling” at last year’s NXT TakeOver: Chicago event in an incredibly emotional moment, but legitimately injured himself in the bout suffering a ruptured ligament in his knee.

It’s unknown whether or not Ciampa has been cleared by WWE doctors to return to the ring, but it’s worth nothing that he was sporting a knee brace and was visibly limping after using his crutch to brutally beat down Gargano in front of his wife Candice LeRae. But it’s wrestling, so who actually knows how much of that was just selling and how much is legitimate.
