Will Ospreay Fires Back At Inappropriate & Poorly Timed Comparison to Dynamite Kid

August 6, 2021 0 By JohnValbyNation

The pro wrestling world lost a legend on December 5 when Thomas Billington, also known as The Dynamite Kid, passed away. The former WWE Superstar had battled health problems for years, most of which were directly connected to his days in the ring.

It’s Billington’s style that many fans see in some of today’s biggest names and that is a cause for concern. That is especially true of international star Will Ospreay. Ospreay is no stranger to criticism, as his style has been attacked by many inside and outside the business over the past few years.

But when he read some of that same criticism on the same day of Billington’s death, Ospreay decided to respond. Ospreay brought attention to the situation on his Twitter account, where he reminded everyone that perhaps this was not the time to mention The Dynamite Kid’s name.

Think that’s the worst time to air anything like that @WhatCultureWWE

There was an apology in response to Ospreay’s Tweet, though many fans apparently did not take it seriously. Ospreay has yet to further comment on the situation.

Will Ospreay is currently a member of New Japan Pro Wrestling and is one of the most popular talents on the roster. He’s a former IWGP Junior Heavyweight champion and has worked some of the company’s top names, including Katsuyori Shibata and Kushida.

The Dynamite Kid’s last match was in 1996. His health deteriorated from that point on and he was confined to a wheelchair up to his death.

Hello Will. We have since edited the article, which we'd like to stress was written and indeed published prior to today's sad news. We sincerely apologise for the deeply unfortunate timing.
